NYC Griffs Kentucky Derby Party
NYC Griffs has made its mark in the national Brussels Griffon community.
Earlier this month Laura Burkart and NYC Griffs hosted the group’s most extravagant event yet: a Kentucky Derby-themed meet-up. The party drew guests from across the country: Griffs from Seattle, Dallas, Atlanta, Maryland, Texas, Los Angeles, Florida, and the New York City Tri-State area attended.
Guests braved the chilly, rainy weather the day of the Derby for an afternoon of cute costumes, elaborate hats, food, and fun activities. But mostly to get together with fellow fans of Brussels Griffons.

Big Event
Laura has spent the last few years dedicated to NYC Griffs, hosting meet-ups that have just gotten bigger and better.
Her efforts did not go unnoticed!
Back in January a contingent of Texas Griff owners asked when the next NYC Griffs event was happening because they wanted to attend. Rising to the challenge, Laura hatched a plan to host a party on the day of the Kentucky Derby.
With the help of willing and able vendors and a successful Go Fund Me effort, Laura was able to pull together an amazing event. NYC Griffs received ninety RSVPs and promises from some of the Griff community’s biggest Instagram stars to attend.

Photo Shoot
At times the event seemed like a great big fashion shoot! Complete with sets built by Human’s Best Friend and photos by Carmen Gonzalez, the NYC Pet Pawtographer.

Everyone got to play photographer.
Everyone!

Partners
A number of vendors were involved with the event, including Pupper Cup, artist Andrea Caceres, Grumpy Dog Club, Goodie Box Bake Shop, Kizzou, Django, and Mito.

The party took place at The Sanctuary, a great event space on the northern tip of Roosevelt Island.

Many owners and pups wore matching outfits.

Comedian Jolie Dudley and co-founder of Must Love Dogs and Comedy was there. Here she is in coordinated yellow with Twixie.

Penelope got a last minute adjustment before having her picture taken.

Olive looks pretty in a pink tutu.

Herman looks ready for gallop around the horse track.

Laura is already planning for next year’s event: a tribute to the Met Ball!
